Lugari MP Ayub Savula has blamed ODM and Jubilee party MPs for being selfish and not helping the poor.

Savula blamed the legislators of conspiring to scrap off initiatives that were initially aimed at helping the poor.

He said that harambee fundraisers were outlawed by the members of parliament yet the country has more poor people relying on pooling together of resources to fight poverty.

“You cannot ban harambees in a country where majority of the citizens are poor and rely on resource pooling for development,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Savula added that the Elections Act 2011 whose eight-month cut-off commences on Wednesday will adversely affect development projects since contributions are usually made through harambees.
