The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has sent a message of condolence to the family, friends, and activists following the death of an Eldoret based human rights activist Ken Wafula.

Wafula died at St. Luke's Hospital in Eldoret town on Wednesday following what has been said was high blood pressure and diabetes.

Through its official Twitter account, ODM said Wafula fought long and hard for respect for rights and dignity.

"ODM Party fraternity mourns the demise of Mr. Ken Wafula, Human Rights advocate based in Eldoret. Party joins family, friends and fellow activists - the very core of our movement - at this grieving moment. Mr. Wafula fought long and hard for respect for rights and dignity," ODM tweeted."

That struggle continues as there remains a lot of work to be done. As Mr. Wafula takes his final rest, may this gap nature has created be filled by even fiercer fighters for human dignity, freedoms, and rights," read another tweet.

Former Kakamega Senator Dr. Bonny Khalwale also send a message of condolence to the family and friends.

"My condolences to the family and friends of our departed brother Ken Wafula who was a champion of human rights in Eldoret. May his soul RIP," Khalwale wrote on his official Twitter account.

Ken Wafula was the director at the Center for Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD).

He was widely involved in the ICC cases which followed the 2007/08 post-election violence were helped in the protection of some of the witnesses and was at one time accused of fixing Deputy President William Ruto, allegations he denied.
