Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi now wants Deputy President William Ruto to discard some of his allies.
Speaking during a fundraiser in Uriri, Migori county on Saturday, the leader warned the DP against Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, claiming that they are silently against his presidential ambition.
He observed that the duo is misleading Ruto, advising him to either part ways with them or forget his bid to replace President Uhuru in the forthcoming 2022 general elections.
He termed the two as the force behind the DP's opposition of the growing referendum push aimed at expanding the executive, noting that the same will render him an enemy of development, adding that most Kenyans are for the change.
"Ruto should stop listening to the likes of Duale and Murkomen who are misleading him or end up suffering a terrible defeat come 2022," said the lawmaker.
"He should consider parting ways with the two because as things stand now, he is on the right track to the opposition leader's position after the election," he stated.
Similar remarks were made by area Governor Zachary Okoth Obado who maintained that the referendum is inevitable, urging Ruto and his allies to jump on board.
"Ruto and his friends should prepare for a referendum. We are for the change and will not let him make the nation continue walking down the exclusion route," said the county chief.
