A section of leaders from ODM have accused Deputy President William Ruto of being against the'handshake' between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Sunday, the leaders said Ruto's remarks that he would not support amending the Constitution showed that he did not favour the truce between Uhuru and Raila.
Led by ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna the lawmakers told DP Ruto that amending the Constitution was inevitable.
Legislators Samuel Atandi (Alego), Anthony Oluoch (Mathare), Caleb Amisi (Saboti),Florence Mutua (Busia Woman Rep) and Godfrey Osotsi (Nominated) further claimed that the Constitution has 20 percent errors and needed to be amended.
“We all agree that there is a need for constitutional change tofix the 20 per cent that is defective in the 2010 Constitution. We want to tell the DP that this will happen whether helikes it or not,” said Sifuna.
DP Ruto is reported to have rejected calls to amend the Constitution to expand the country’s governance system on Saturday during a rally in Kakamega county.
