The race to occupy the Budalangi parliamentary seat is getting hotter each day.

Several aspirants allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have struck a deal to have a better chance to unseat the incumbent, Ababu Namwamba.

Namwamba served as ODM secretary general, before decamping to the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK).

He has since been hitting out at ODM leader Raila Odinga for criticising every project by the Jubilee administration.

He also announced support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.

The aspirants for the Budalangi MP seat have vowed to support, through campaigns, the candidate who will clinch the ODM ticket to ensure Namwamba does not return to the National Assembly after August 8 polls.

ODM has set Friday, April 7 as the nominations date in Busia County.

Five candidates are seeking the ODM ticket.

They are; former area MP Raphael Wanjala, former County Executive Committee member Leonard Obimbira, Albert Gumo, David Obara and Andrew Nakitare.

Namwamba, has, however exuded confidence in trouncing his opponents come August 8.
