The movement went viral after the presidential address where the opposition party used it to disrupt the presidential speech.

Speaking on Sunday, 3rd April at a church service in Nairobi, the ODM parliamentarians said they have decided to adopt the mechanism because of its efficiency in reaching out Kenyans across the land.

“Change has come to Kenya with a new team of change. We have a dedicated team that last week took courage to whistle in Parliament in a bid to get the presidential attention that Kenya needs a permanent change. The Firimbi Movement has now been born officially in this country. We are going to blow whistles in all major towns in Kenya,’’ said Simba Arati, Dagoretti North MP.

Other MPs who attended the Sunday church service included, John Mbadi (ODM Chairman), Tom Kajwang’ (Ruaraka), Unguja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Gladys Wanga (the Homa Bay Woman Representative), Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua and Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang.

The ODM legislators also criticized the house speaker, Justin Muturi, for allegedly denying them a chance to petition the president over their concerns as the opposition.
