Following a section of purported Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM) delegates selecting former defunct Kisii Municipal Council mayor Samuel Omwando the party’s county interim chairman on Monday and holding demonstrations in Kisii town now some leaders from the party have come out to unseat them.
Kisii County Women Rep Mary Otara has dismissed the ouster of County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders saying the party’s leadership is intact.
Similarly, she rubbished claims that she has ditched the party and joined Jubilee Alliance, clarifying she was not part of the delegation led by Kisii County Senator Chris Obure and Deputy governor Joash Maangi that went to State House and met President Uhuru Kenyatta over the county’s development agenda.
Speaking at Bogitaa mixed secondary school on Monday after launching sanitary pad programme and water tanks for schools funded by Affirmative Fund Action, Otara said she is in ODM to stay and will defend her seat on the party in 2017.
She said the county’s ODM leadership is not vacant, saying that Obure, Chairman, Governor James Ongwae, Secretary, Maangi, deputy organising Secretary, Speaker Kerosi Ondieki, Vice chairman, and her, Deputy Organiz=sing Secretary are bonafide officials since they have not relinquished their party posts.
