An Orange Democratic Movement MP from Raila Odinga's Luo Nyanza home turf has endorsed Gideon Moi's 2022 candidacy, sparking speculations about the veteran leader's future.
Recently, Raila entered into a secret unity pact with President Uhuru Kenyatta, which many political pundits argue could have focused on his legacy thus ruling him out of future presidential polls.
Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda, at a function in Baringo, said the presidential seat can only be retained within the Royal families.
"A lion's son is a lion, a chief's son is a chief and a Vice-President's son is a Vice-President. If you are a son of the president, you deserve to be president," said the first-term MP.
He further said: "In fact, a son of the president is by extension a president. I will back Gideon Moi.
His remarks allude that since Raila Odinga's father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga was a Vice President, then the former's dreams could only culminate in his father's position.
The firebrand MP was speaking during the homecoming of Tiaty MP William Kamket, in a function that was eclipsed by 2022 Uhuru succession politics.
While Raila has remained tight-lipped about his next course of action after four unsuccessful stabs at the presidency, both Gideon Moi and William Ruto have expressed interest.
