The Orange Democratic Movement has given its final stand on the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
According to the party, it fully supports its leader Raila Odinga's efforts to work together with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna while speaking in Naivasha called on leaders to stop politicising the handshake and linking it to 2022.
"Following the disputed 2017 presidential election, our members have been asked to focus on building bridges and shun divisive politics. The party backs our leader Raila Odinga on the initiative and hopes the entire membership will walk with him through this journey of creating a united Kenya," Sifuna said.
Sifuna stated that the party supports the 14 member committee jointly appointed by Uhuru and Raila to spearhead the peace talks.
"We ask our members to speak the truth boldly on the matters affecting the country and avoid distraction from political shylocks who intend to reduce the Raila -Uhuru handshake to their 2022 trivial," he said.
The NEC meeting was attended by leader Raila Odinga.
