A section of Kisii County Assembly Members (MCA) has faulted EACC by defending their county government as it was ranked 4th nationwide in terms of corruption.
Led by Majority Chief Whip Henry Moracha they claimed that the commission did not do a proper job before giving out their report as their county was ranked 4th nation wide.
According to them, Kisii County being the 4th corrupt county is ironical since previously it has been mentioned among the best counties that have improved in terms of devolution and they have struggled in the fight against the graft.
The MCAs claimed that the EACC is just targeting the Cord-led counties in terms of corruption allegations.
“It seems the EACC is targeting the Cord-led counties, we wonder how they did their findings of this corruption report," said Moracha.
"We are really shocked to hear that our county is ranked 4th nationally,” added Moracha.
In addition, the MCAs added that they were wondering how comes their governor was featured on the front page of the Daily Nation newspaper, despite the EACC corruption report ranking the county fourth.
“We wonder what it entails finding our governor being featured on the front page of the Daily Nation," said the MCA.
"Why not other since he was the 4th according to the list, we want to be told what is happening behind the scene,” added Moracha
They have demanded an apology from the Daily Nation newspaper for featuring Governor James Ongwae and not others who were mentioned in the same report.
“We need an apology from the Daily Nation newspaper since our county was fourth according to the report and why they featured him most than others,” said Moracha
MCAs present were John Ombati Bomorenda ward, Charles Nyagoto Bogeka ward among others
