According to ODM National Chairman John Mbadi, the party will deny nomination certificates to aspirants who fail to fully take part in the exercise.

Mbadi said party leader Raila Odinga does not take lightly the low voter turnout in Nyanza region and has threatened not to support aspirants who have boycotted the exercise expected to end in two weeks.

“ODM made a resolution that the 30 days scheduled by the IEBC for voter registration are spent on mobilising supporters to register as voters. Anybody ignoring this must be reprimanded,” said Mbadi as quoted by People Daily.

He said the ODM top brass had realised that many party members and aspirants are only concentrating on their personal agenda instead of supporting the listing mobilisation to help the party to meet the IEBC target.

“The certificate will be given to those who can identify themselves with the party,” he added.

Figures released on Tuesday by the IEBC on statistics of the second week of mass voter registration shows Nyanza, the backyard of Raila, has so far registered 180,208 voters against the IEBC projection of 398,617.
