Vocal Budalangi Member of Parliament Raphael Wanjala has been arrested by CID police officers at a local hotel in Kisumu.
The ODM MP was arrested for allegedly inciting his supporters to disrupt and attack Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba and Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) officials during the launch of the Thigiri bridge in Budalangi on Friday.
According to police, the MP and his supporters allegedly hurled stones at a helicopter that was carrying the Foreign Affairs CAS and other government officials.
Reports indicate that Wanjala was not invited to the launch, a move that angered him and his supporters.
The MP has allegedly been transfered from Kisumu police station to Kakamega and is likely to spend the remaining part of the weekend in cells before being arraigned in court on Monday.
Wanjala and Ababu have not been seeing eye to eye after the vocal Legislator trounced the former ODM Secretary General in last year's poll.
