Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir has poked holes into President Uhuru Kenyatta's speech during the State of the Nation Address on Wednesday.

Speaking after the address, the lawmaker openly differed with the Head of State over his suggestion to slash salaries of elected leaders in an attempt to contain the ballooning wage bill which he said is hindering development in the county.Nassir said slashing of salaries is not a solution to the country's soaring wage bill, adding that the move is an indication that the the economy is not doing well. The legislator's sentiments come after the President said the country's economy is doing well, if all the economic indicators are anything to by.The lawmaker further slammed the President, accusing him of lying to Kenyans that all is well in terms of security.Citing the recurring wave of bandits attacks in Baringo and Laikipia counties, Nassir said it is very ironic for the President to boast about the country's current ration of police officers to wananchi which stands at 1:380 yet people continue losing lives daily. In regards to the construction of the Mariakani-Bamba road in Kilifi county by the central government, the legislator claimed that the project has a political agenda.
