Kwale Women Representative Zuleikha Juma has distanced herself from Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
According to Zuleikha, thepact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga does not mean that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has been swallowed by Jubilee party.
In her view, the legislator believes 2022 talks being undertaken at the moment are premature as both Uhuru and Raila only majored on how the country moves forward in terms of unity.
"I support the pact between Presidemt Uhuru Kenyatta and our party leader Raila Odinga. The two leaders have not talked about 2022 politics but on how the country should forge forward. It is thus premature to talk about 2022 politics as the two leaders met as individuals and the meeting does not mean that ODM has been swallowed by Jubilee party," reiterated Zuleikha on Monday.
Zuleikha further pointed out that the sentiments by Malindi Mp Aisha Jumwa of supporting Ruto come 2022 are her own opinions and not of ODM.
The Women Rep affirmed that she attended the DP meeting because Raila and Uhuru had already given the direction for the country in terms of tackling corruption, end electoral injustice, end tribalism among other issues.
"The sentiments by Aisha Jumwa are the opinions of an Mp and does not represent the party. I attended the meeting because our two leaders had already given direction of the country in handling corruption, electoral injustices, tribalism among other issues," added Zuleikha.
The Mp made her remarks at Diani in Kwale county during an interview with a Citizen TV journalist.
