A rather loyal ODM legislator has gone against his party's provisions and endorsed Water CS, Eugene Wamalwa for the position of Nairobi Governor in the forthcoming elections.
Stephen Kariuki, the Mathare MP said he will support Wamalwa for the post of the current governor, Evans Kidero is yet to show why he should be considered for the position a second term.
Kariuki said he firmly believes that a new face is what the city-county needs to help them achieve its targets, especially in delivering vital services to the residents that Kidero has since failed to do.
“I think that it is very imperative that we get solutions to the ever-teething problems affecting the city residents and with this, I trust that CS Wamalwa is the right person for the job,” he said.
The ODM MP further added that Wamalwa had in the past revealed that he can deliver well for Kenyans in several vital public positions that he has served and that he has the zeal to rebuild the struggling city-county.
“Nairobi city needs radical changes to the way things are being done and so far it is sad that we have not seen them. A completely new face is all that is necessary,” he added.
Wamalwa and Kidero are now seen as the possible front-runners for the seat, alongside Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
