Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has hailed President Uhuru's recent call for a lifestyle audit on all state officials.
Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, President Kenyatta banked on the technique to help supress the graft menace, expressing willingness to lead the pack by taking the test alongside his deputy William Ruto.
Speaking on Radio Jambo Saturday, Aladwa lauded the proposal, noting that it will contribute to the realization of a corruption-free nation, at a time when the menace seems to be on the increase.
"Nataka kumshukuru rais kwa kupendekeza maneno ya audit na pia kukubali naibu wake achunguzwe. Itasaidia sana kumaliza ufisadi na kuchunguza watu ambao maisha yao hayaeleweki(I want to hail the President for proposing the audit and offering himself to be audited alongside his deputy. It will help the nation unveil the secret behind suspicious lives by some of our state officials)," said the leader.
However, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parliamentarian stressed on the need for the practice to be carried out in the most professional way, cautioning against it being transformed into a scheme to settle political scores.
"Lazima ifanywe vizuri ili kuzuia vitu kama witch hunt za kisiasa (it must, however, must be done in the most professional and sincere way and should not be turned into political witch hunt)," he added.
