[Photo/the-star.co.ke]Gem Member of Parliament, Elisha Odhiambo has criticised Siaya MCAs after they opposed governor Cornell Rasanga’s nominees for County Executive Committee (CeC) positions.Speaking to journalusts on Sunday, Odhiambo faulted the county ward reps for misusing their powers noting that their ground of rejection lacked merit."The MCAs are supposed to look at the suitability of the nominees for public office as stipulated in chapter six of the constitution," he said."But what they did was to dictate to the Governor the sectors the nominees should be posted to. This is wrong and against the law," he added. While rejecting the CeC nominees, the assembly said they lacked the knowledge and skills for positions. The ODM legislator however rubbished their reasons noting the rejection was an attempt to frustrate and scuttle the Governor's development plans."CECs are the people responsible for the implementation of the Governor's development programmes and plans. If you reject the people who should do this work, then what are you trying to do?" he wondered."It is like they don't want the Governor to realise his development dreams for the county and that is not acceptable," added Odhiambo as he urged the Siaya speaker George Okode to discharge his duties fairly.
