An opposition MP has found himself on a wrong side after criticizing the method Cord leader Raila Odinga has employed in reforming the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Karachuonyo's James Rege was criticised by ODM officials for turning against the Cord leader who they said has sacrificed a lot to widen the democratic space in the country.
Kisumu Central ODM officials led by Chairman Seth Ochieng', Edward Ogolla (Treasurer) and Kisumu County governor aspirant Hezron McObewa termed a recent statement by Mr Rege as irrelevant and dared him to leave ODM and Cord.
"We want to tell Mr Rege and everybody who has been infected by his thinking to consider quitting ODM because we are tired of them," Ochieng' said.
"The statement made by Mr Rege over the weekend is not in good taste as he very well knows the hurdles we have faced as the opposition in removing IEBC commissioners in office using constitutional means."
On his part, Mr Ogolla fired a warning shot to all ODM rebel MPs that they will be 'dealt with accordingly' in future.
"Let the rebel MPs from ODM stay warned that as a party we are not going to tolerate their character as we are going to put ODM in order before the 2017 poll," he said.
On Monday, Cord leader Raila Odinga maintained the protests will continue until IEBC Chairman Isaack Hassan and his team leave office.
Raila said the current IEBC as constituted cannot be trusted to oversee the 2017 general election.
He claims the electoral body is headed by incompetent and corrupt officials.
