Ken Obura, the Kisumu Central MP, could spend five years in cold following revelations that he was issued with a fake ODM winner certificate.

Having allegedly kidnaped Mr. Laban Bosire, a Returning Offer, and Obura reportedly forced his to sign a certificate under pressure in presence of a handful of police offers.

But in a dramatic twist of events, the outright winner, Mr. Fred Ouda, was issued with a certificate signed by the same officer and claimed that Obura’s document was fake.

“We are happy that our victory has been awarded. We tolled hard but someone wanted to use backdoor. I am happy that the Returning Officer appended a fake signature due to pressure,” he said.

Ouda added: “It is time now to work for NASA and ensure we deliver in August. Let us reconcile and move on as one team.”

Although Mr. Obura is yet to issue a comprehensive statement, the National Elections Board under Judy Pareno declared Ouda a winner on Saturday evening.

The board also upheld controversial victories of Anyang Nyong’o, Amoth Rasanga, Cyprian Awiti, John Mbadi and Millie Odhiambo.
