The MP, born, raised and educated in Kibra, is a beneficiary of several educational scholarships that saw him through Starehe Secondary School all the way to the university in the United States.
He first rose to the public limelight when he was elected Kibra MP in the 2013 elections after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) created the new Kibra Constituency being hived from the larger Langata constituency.
The MP's star has been rising in the area of improving education in Kibra since the inception of his charitable and educational NGO Children of Kibera Foundation.
The organisation saw hundreds of students benefit from full scholarships to join secondary schools across the country.
Upon his election in 2013, he embarked on what would be referred to as Elimu Kwanza (Education First) Campaign that was well received by many Kibra residents.
The slogan has been actualised by the construction of state-of-the-art secondary schools across Kibra Constituency and offering partial or full bursaries to students to access education.
His approach is transforming the education sector in Kibra and forming a learning base for several other leaders. This has cut a niche for his exception way of transformation.
Recently, he launched Mbagathi Secondary school at a cost of 48 million shillings fully equipped with three laboratories, 12 classrooms with a capacity for 480 to 600 pupils, four departmental offices, a library, boardroom, lavatories, kitchen and stores.
