President Uhuru Kenyatta is finding himself on the receiving end following his recent move to appoint former Migori MP Owino Likowa to government as the board chairman of the South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited.
Likowa who served as an MP from 2002 to 2007 is among the many Nyanza politicians who made it to Uhuru's government in what is seen by many as a product of the handshake.
However, the appointment of Likowa has not gone well with Uriri MP Mark Nyamita who has faulted the President saying that the former lawmaker was not the right man for the job.
According to the legislator, Mr. Likowa has no managerial experience to turnaround the fortunes of the troubled miller.
" ...while this is purely a Presidential prerogative ( the appointment of Likowa), it doesn't stop us from ventilating it in public discourse. Neither does it compel us to kowtow to a bad executive choice as a fait accompli," read part of the statement posted on the lawmaker's Facebook page.
While criticizing the decision to appoint the former MP, Nyamita said that Uhuru should have considered giving the job to another person from the county provided he improves the sugar sector in the region which he says is the area's economic backbone.
