Laikipia North Member of Parliament, Mathew Lempurkel spent Saturday night behind bars.
This is after the ODM party lawmaker was arrested, while in Nanyuki, over alleged incitement.
He is alleged to have uttered incitement message, that in case the National Super Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga wins, in the August 8 elections, all whites will be driven out of the country.Reports indicate he was taken to Nar-Moru police station in Nyeri County for questioning, after being arrested by the Laikipia Central DCIO, Saturday.
The lawmaker however denied issuing incitement message, saying he was misquoted, as he was speaking in his vernacular language.
He will spent Sunday in police custody as well, awaiting to be arraigned in court, Monday.
His arrest follows that of his Suna East colleague, Junet Mohamed, who was arrested in Homa Bay county, Friday, over alleged hate speech. He was later released on a Sh500,000 bond.
