Bondo Member of Parliament (MP) Gideon Ochanda has suspended all members of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee over alleged massive corruption.
Mr. Ochanda directed all implicated to be barred from accessing the Bondo CDF office from Monday next week.
“They will instead be required to report to the CID offices at the Bondo Police Station to be investigated over the corruption allegations,” the second term MP was quoted by Citizen TV.
According to the MP, the officials colluded with other officials in the constituency to influence development projects in Bondo.
He warned that once thorough investigations are complete, due legal process will be taken against all implicated officers.
The Member of Parliament disclosed that he has been receiving numerous complaints, especially from contractors over corruption allegations in the Constituency.
“Those dismissed were demanding for bribes in order to evade proper tendering procedures. Some of the CDF officials even registered companies and awarded tenders to themselves,” he said.
He also accused the CDF office of mishandling the Bursary Fund Scheme, claiming that names of potential beneficiaries of the CDF bursaries were apparently being altered and kick-backs demanded.
The MPs action at the Constituency comes as President Uhuru Kenyatta intensifies war on corruption at the national level.
