Likoni MP Mishi Mboko wants Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to take responsibility and resign over the alleged police brutality on University of Nairobi (UoN) students.Mboko said the brutality meted on UoN students by police last week is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms possible.The MP said Boinnet has failed to supervise his officers, a move she said has resulted in police harassment, intimidation and beating of innocent citizens during peaceful protests.Mboko said police have no right to use excessive force on peaceful protestors."The Inspector General of Police must take responsibility and step aside for failing to restrain his men and women in uniform," said Mboko on Sunday, as quoted by the People Daily.The ODM MP said the alleged police brutality on students last week is a shame to the country and the police force.Police have been on the spot after they were captured on video beating up and harassing a section of University of Nairobi students who were protesting the arrest and detention of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino last week.Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang'i has said stern action will be taken against officers who will be implicated.
