Kisumu Central Constituency MP Ken Obura has been given seven days to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him by the ODM party.
Obura has widely been accused of disrespecting ODM and its leader Raila Odinga and is perceived to be among the rebels within the party.
The constituency's branch party officials today met and resolved to summon him to appear before them and respond to the allegations levelled against the MP.
The officials led by the constituency party Secretary Samuel Nyabinda said that they had listed seven grounds on why Obura must face disciplinary action.
“We have party officials from all the six constituencies represented here and resolved the MP has a case to answer,” Nyabinda said.
He said the party had already written to the MP to appear before them failure to which the party will take unspecified action against him.
Nyabinda argued that as an opposition MP, Obura had no mandate or authority to urge the Luo community to work together with the Jubilee government.
The party officials accused the MP of failing to discharge his duties as an elected member of parliament.
The chairman of the party in the constituency Seth Ochieng said they decided to meet following a previous meeting in Sikri that was chaired by party leader Raila Odinga.
