Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori has been under fierce criticism following remarks that the National Super Alliance's (NASA) top leadership has sidelined leaders from the Coastal region. Several opposition supporters have hit out at the MP, challenging him to withdraw the utterances or defect to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee camp.Ngumu Tupu activists now want the lawmaker to present the Speaker of the National Assembly with his resignation letter if he is not happy with the affairs of the political outfit, and pave way for a by-election.Ngumu Tupu chairman Hassan Chitembe termed Dori’s remarks as not only ill-timed but also ill-motivated. Chitembe claimed that Dori is planning to decamp to the ruling Jubilee party, and dared him to take a bold step and leave the ODM party rather than stirring storms in the opposition.“You cannot tell us anything my friend as we have known that you want to go to Jubilee but you're looking for excuses. Do not hide, you're free as you have done nothing for the party in your region," said Chitembe, as quoted by The Star. The activists accused the lawmaker of not being an ardent supporter of NASA leader Raila Odinga, adding that the door is open for him to leave ODM.Kwale County ODM secretary William Opondo also slammed Dori, terming him a Jubilee sympathiser.Opondo claimed that Dori has not been actively involved in NASA activities, citing the anti-IEBC demos.“We kindly request the MP that he is free to join any party of his choice if possible he can even resign and contest for the seat in that very party he thinks is the best. In fact, the MP was merely using ODM as a ladder to climb to the seat and he is not a member in any way,” said Opondo, as quoted by Baraka FM.This comes after Dori said he regrets campaigning for Raila in the August 8 polls. The MP said the NASA coalition has sidelined Coast leaders in the sharing of House committee seats, despite the region overwhelmingly voting for Raila.“I ask you for forgiveness on behalf of Coast MPs. In the last campaigns, we led you to NASA. We voted in 27 MPs thus being the majority followed by Nyanza but surprisingly a few weeks ago we were shortchanged,” said Dori.
