Member of Parliament for Uriri, Eng John Kobado wants the elections date moved from August 8 next year to a later date, citing the government's unpreparedness for the exercise.

According to Citizen, the legislator was speaking on Monday, September 26th where he said that he has done his own analysis and seen that the timeline set is very short to hold credible, free and fair elections.

“According to my estimations, if this country is looking to have a free and fair election, then the earliest that the polls can be held is November 2017,” Kobado is quoted saying.

Despite them announcing that they'll leave office, IEBC commissioners are still in office with Chairman Isaack Hassan saying they're yet to receive any communications from the government regarding their send-off package.

According to Kobado, the government is using a delay tactic and they (ODM) won't tolerate that.

“Jubilee is delaying with the appointment of commissioners as a deliberate attempt to lag the implementation of electoral reforms in order to get a chance to rig the elections in its favour,” he alleged.
