An MP allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) now wants the national examinations pushed forward to allow for the repeat presidential polls.

Kilifi North MP Owen Baya on Tuesday said it would be in order if the country first deals with the contentious fresh elections date debate before embarking on other duties like the KCPE and KCSE examinations.

"It would be in order if we dealt with the election debate first before we can look at the national exams calendar because political discourse dictates almost every sector in this country. Carrying out a sham election would only mean we continuously repeat the exercise and that will inconvenience our children,” said Baya.

The NASA coalition has maintained that no election will be conducted without meaningful reforms in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) while Jubilee insists the election must be conducted on October 17, as directed by the poll body.

The Ministry of Education has said the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam will start on November 6 and end on November 29.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) candidates will sit their exams on November 1 and 2.

The rehearsals will be done on October 31.
