Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has been told to end his political dictatorship.
Mbugua is accused by the some of the opposition MPs for being intolerant and biased for prohibiting Coalition for Reform and Democracy (Cord) team from having any political rally or meeting in the county.
ODM MPs have termed governor Mbugua’s stance as harsh and undemocratic.
Speaking at an interview, Dagoretti MP Paul Arati says that they are ready to meet their party followers from Nakuru and nothing will hinder them from being in the county.
ODM nominated MP Isaac Mwaura said: “This is not what the governor should be doing. If he is not aware, he is creating differences among Kenyans and he might lead Nakuru residents in the wrong direction.”
Mwaura added that this is political zoning where people cannot go to certain regions which hinders economic growth.
Kisumu MP Shakeel Shabbir said the constitution has given the opposition freedom of association and holding public meetings as long as it is peaceful.
“If the government gave us permit to hold Saba Saba rally, then I fail to understand which politics Mbugua is playing,” said Shabbir.
Nakuru County is among the regions most affected by election violence in 1992 and 2007/08.
