Two ODM MPs have criticized president Uhuru Kenyatta’s threat that Jubilee will use its high numbers at the National assembly and senate to impeach Raila Odinga if elected president on October, 17.

Uhuru on Monday threatened that if Raila wins the presidency, Jubilee MPs will impeach him within two to three months.

But ODM MPs Opiyo Wandayi of Ugunja and his counterpart Christopher Karan of Ugenya have said Jubilee's threat is false since they do not enjoy the super majority in parliament as required by the constitution.

According to Wandayi, Uhuru has realized that Raila is poised to win the presidential election so he is engaging in unnecessary public spats against him.

"His threat to impeach Raila, once elected, is nothing but a red herring,” said Wandayi.

Wandayi noted that Jubilee leaders know they do not enjoy numerical strength in both Houses to successfully come up with an impeachment motion.

“He just seeks to console himself in light of the impending electoral humiliation,” said the MP.

Karan on his part said if NASA forms the next government, opportunists surrounding Uhuru will shift their allegiance to his government to make it hard to impeach Raila.

He said Uhuru’s threats to Raila is a show of confusion and pressure since he has realized loopholes used to steal elections have been sealed.“He is in a state of confusion knowing very well he did not win the election and will not", said Karan.
