Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in Mombasa have accused Senator Hassan Omar of misleading Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for his own personal gains.
Led by Mombasa County Women Rep Mishi Mboko, the leaders said Omar's gubernatorial ambition is what has sparked the senator's harsh criticism of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.
"We are telling Senator Omar to stop misadvising and misleading our principle Kalonzo Musyoka for his own selfish gains. We both know that Omar doesn't care whether Kalonzo becomes president or not, and is only pulling political strings to ride to the county's top job by using Kalonzo's good name,” said Mboko.
The leaders claimed Kalonzo's utterances during the Wiper rally in Mombasa were as a result of the misinformation he received from the senator.
"We respect Kalonzo as he has sacrificed a lot for this country, just like our party leader Raila. We are calling on all politicians not to use this hurdle of choosing the coalition's flag bearer for their own selfish gain," said Mvita MP Abduswamad Sharrif.
This comes after Kalonzo said he was tired of being in the opposition, and all he needed was a pact that could get him to the government side.
Musyoka also warned ODM against portraying Raila as the Cord presidential flag bearer, saying the principles had not yet made a decision.
