With President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga stepping up their bid to unite the country after the divisive 2017 election, members of the public and politicians alike are keenly following what will follow next.
On Wednesday, during the country's National Prayer Day at Safari Park Hotel, the 2017 presidential election bitter rivals apologized to another and it was the time for hugs after the "expiry" of handshakes.
The move was meant to underscore the resolve by the country's political leadership to bury the hatchet and find long-lasting solutions to Kenya's volatile peace especially during elections.
While reacting to Uhuru and Raila's unity gesture, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo hailed the former Prime Minister saying that he has always demonstrated that he loves the country.
"One nation under God! We appreciate the love and patriotism that H.E Raila Odinga has showed our country," the lawmaker said in a Facebook post.
Also present in the new show of unity was Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila's running mate during the 2017 election. The former Vice President publicly apologized to Deputy President William Ruto- the duo having been on each other's neck during the 2017 contest.
