Politicians from the ODM party are now questioning Biometric kits that were returned to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), by the National Youth Service (NYS).
According to the Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary, the kits were being used by the Ministry, to register NYS recruits who had not been registered as voters.
The Opposition has been raising concerns that the kits were being used by NYS to illegally register Kenyans and non-Kenyans, to rig elections.
However, led by Women Representatives Florence Mutua (Busia) and Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), the ODM politicians said the kits had been tampered with, and could not be used in the August elections.
They said former IEBC commissioners donated the kits to the Ministry for undisclosed reasons, and should not have been returned.
The leaders asked current IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to come out clean and explain why the kits should be used in elections.
