According to Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and his Alego Usonga counterpart Samuel Atandi, the allegations against the former Premier are desperate, baseless and non-beneficial to Kenyans.

The two lawmakers insist that the opposition will not be cowed in its push for reforms at the IEBC ahead of next month's repeat presidential contest.

"That is nothing but a red herring. They simply want to divert peoples' attention from the grave issue that Raila has raised over the contract," Wandayi who is also the ODM Director of Political Affairs said as quoted by the Star.

On his part, Atandi said that the allegations by Jubilee politicians linking Raila to the dubious firm are diversionary tactics.

"Raila has never and will never be a broker like Jubilee leaders," said the first-time lawmaker.
