Nakuru ODM branch chairman Peter ole Osono has apologised to journalists following the Friday shooting incident.
Speaking at his home in Gilgil on Sunday, the ODM official apologised, saying that he was not aware that journalists were in the group that invaded his farm on Friday.
Mr Osono said he mistook the journalists to be a group of youths who had been allegedly hired to invade his farm and cause destruction.
“It is unfortunate that the incident had to happen, I take full responsibility of my action and seek forgiveness of the six journalists,” he said.
The ODM chairman on Friday shot at the journalists who had gone to his Gilgil farm to find out whether a road allegedly closed by Mr Oson had been re-opened as directed by the National Lands Commission (NLC).
However, to their rude shock, the journalists were shot at and chased by the ODM chairman.
The ODM Nakuru chairman was immediately summoned by the Gilgil OCPD Serah Koki who disarmed him.
The incident drew condemnation with questions being raised over the safety of journalists.
Last month, a veteran journalist Joshua Kituyi was killed by unknown gunmen as he headed home in Eldoret.
