[Photo: standardmedia.co.keAs the National Assembly Majority Leader Adan Duale incessantly continues to attack the opposition Nasa, ODM has picked his relative for nomination to the National Assembly. ODM is a constituent party of Nasa coalition alongside Wiper Democratic Movement, Ford Kenya, Amani National Congress (ANC) Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) among others.Khadija Hussein from Garissa County, is the daughter of a former long-time cabinet minister, Hussein Maalim Mohammed who served in the cabinet of retired President Daniel Moi since 1983 until 2002.Maalim is the younger brother of General Mahmoud Mohammed, who is Duale's father-in-law. General Mahmoud is mostly remembered for thwarting the 1982 coup attempt and thereafter serving as the Chief of General of Staff between 1986 and 1996.Another notable name on the ODM list is that of the outspoken Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion. Sossion a career high school teacher and a trade unionist has rubbed shoulders many times with the Jubilee administration over teachers' salary demands as well as on matters of education policy.Sossion who attended Nasa manifesto launch on Tuesday, was critical of last year's 'hurried' KCSE results release and even at one point calling for the remarking of the same. He is also opposed to the 'hurried' rolling out of the new education system, 2-6-6-3, which is in the piloting stage. The list has been submitted to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for nomination to the National Assembly.
