The ODM is not ready to receive Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama back to its fold after reports emerged that he is planning to make a U-turn months after decamping to the Jubilee party.
ODM Nakuru County secretary general Hilton Abiola said the party has many aspirants, and that there is no room to accommodate Arama.
Addressing journalists in Nakuru town, Abiola said Arama has no chance of either being vetted or nominated to vie for a post in the party, but can only become a member like any other Kenyan.
"His case is isolated and he has no chance of passing even the ODM vetting process, leave alone the nomination, and therefore we don't see any chances of him being accepted back to the party," Abiola.
The county secretary general said so far, they have received more than 15 parliamentary aspirants eyeing the ODM ticket and that Arama cannot be given a second chance in the party.
"He went contrary to the party rules and affairs and sold Jubilee policies which he thought the ruling government would favour him. The Jubilee party has now disowned him and that's why he is requesting a come back but out of the more than 15 aspirants we have so far, we can have the best flag bearer compared to him," claimed Abiola.
But speaking on the phone, MP Arama termed the issue as baseless, stating that 'Wanjiku' (in reference to voters), has the final say and that he does not fear running the parliamentary seat on whichever the party or as an independent candidate.
At the same time, Abiola has warned ODM aspirants against using the party leader's name (Raila Odinga) as an endorsement to get political mileage.
"Let everyone fight his own battle and stop dragging Raila's name right, left and centre so as to get mileage. The voters will not consider who has been using his name but who is ready to deliver the Nakuru West development agenda."
