Siaya gubernatorial hopeful, Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo risk facing disciplinary action from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), over violence that rocked a rally by ODM party (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga, in the area, Monday June 26.

This is after a section of Nyanza ODM politicians, led by Nominated MP Oburu Odinga, and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga wrote to the Commission, asking it to take action on Gumbo, after a group of youth believed to be his supporters, stormed the rally, forcing it to end prematurely.

During the incident Odinga was forced to cut shot his speech after the youth attacked, as he called for a six piece votting pattern, in support of his party, and Gumbo's rival, ODM's Cornell Rasanga.

According to Raila, any ODM candidate in his Luo Nyanza stronghold, including Siaya, should be voted in, in the August 8  polls. His utterances angered the youth, who support Gumbo, an independent candidate, who pulled out of ODM, after results of April primaries showed area Rasanga had emerged the winner. They demanded that all supporters of Raila and ODM leave the venue, with the rally ending prematurely, Monday.

However, Gumbo has dismissed the Nyanza politician's accusations, saying the fracas was stage-managed to portray him as violent.
