ODM Party youth official Charles Onguko has accused former Raila Odinga's aide Eliud Owalo of sensing defeat following his claims that the party was planning to impose Odinga's daughter Rosemary Akeyo Odinga as Kibra's ODM candidate.
Speaking to the media on Thursday shortly after Owalo sent his written application to Raila titled "Scheme to Impose Ms Rosemary Odinga on the People of Kibra Constituency", Onguko refuted Owalo's allegations, challenging him to appear before the party's National Elections Board to substantiate his claims.
"Many candidates have shown interest to fly the party's flag and as such, it's petty for the self-proclaimed consultant to pick on Akeyo. What does he fear? Why are the other candidates, who are even better than him, not complaining about Akeyo's candidature?" Onguko posed.
"If he has sufficient information to support his claims, he should petition NEB chair Ms Judy Pareno," he added.
Both Owalo and Ms Odinga are eyeing the Kibra parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket, seeking to unseat the incumbent Ken Okoth who was also elected on an ODM ticket.
