The ODM official said this is out of order and many people will not participate in the process.

"December is a very congested month full of traditional festivities and elections will be given secondary attention. Many people from urban centers go to rural areas for the festive season and some politicians during the period offer one-way tickets to the travelers to the countryside,” said Menjo in Eldoret town, Thursday.

"A few days to election some bus companies stop operations until after elections technically locking out a reasonable number of an urban voter, therefore this will not work let it remain at it is," added the ODM NEC member.

He reiterated that the Kimilili legislator is playing a game that he is not properly briefed needs some advice from veteran politicians.

"Wamalwa should amend other areas of the constitution that requires immediate attention and not the poll date. There's merit for the August date," noted Menjo.

This comes after the Kimilili legislator Chris Wamalwa came up with the draft Constitution of Kenya (amendment) Bill 2017 seeking to have the date of the general elections moved from August to December.
