The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has ordered MCAs who have not remitted their monthly party fees to do so with immediate effect.
ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen said on Thursday that the ward representatives take long to remit the funds to the party headquarters saying those who continue paying the money late will be fined.
He was speaking in Kisumu when he met ODM elected MCAs at the party's Kisumu office.
"ODM is a serious party. The party needs the funds because without money, we will not be able to effectively run party affairs," he said.
According to the ODM Constitution, every MCA has the obligation of paying Sh5,000 as party fees every month.
Oduor said ODM's top leadership is drafting a plan that will aid the revamping of the country's largest opposition party as the country stares at another election in 2022.
He said the chaotic party primary elections that have been witnessed in the past will not occur again as the party has democratised.
The MCAs in attendance during the meeting called on the party to open more branches across the country especially in regions deemed Jubilee strongholds including North Rift and Central region- the home-turf of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
