Former Balambala MP Adikadir Aden has declared interest in the Garissa county assembly speaker position.
Aden, who lost the Balambala parliamentary seat in the recently concluded general election says that he will be applying to be speaker position.
In an interview with the Daily Nation, Aden who is ODM deputy secretary general said that he has the experience to serve in the Garissa county assembly.
“I will be presenting my papers for the Garissa county assembly speaker seat and I am confident I will make it for the position,” he said as quoted by the Nation.
Aden said that his defeat in the recently concluded polls does not bar him from seeking other opportunities.
The former ODM MP said that he is not ready to hang up his political boots, adding that he will seek to remain relevant as ahead of the 2022 general election.
He also said that he is open to other opportunities that my come his way. Aden narrowly lost the seat to Abdi Omar Shurie of Jubilee Party.
The Garissa county assembly speaker position has attracted several candidates’ majorly former politicians.
Former Ijara MP Mohamed Abbas who lost the seat to Sophia Abdi Noor is also in the race for the Garissa speaker position.
Former speaker Mohamed Abbey who served in the previous assembly is also wrestling to retain the position.
