The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has formed a five-member team meant to conduct vetting of nominees and by election exercise.
The five-member team is set to start its job immediately by conducting elections in 4 Wards in Kajiado, Turkana,Kisii and Tana river.
The team is made up of Judith Pareno , Robert Arunga, Lora Anindo, Ibrahim Rashid and Edward Nyale.
The first two held the position of chairperson and secretary of the election team respectively with the later, 3 being members of the election team.
With rumours making rounds that there are some party leaders purporting to have powers to vet candidates in the grassroots party members have been urged not to be misled by such misguided leaders. According to ODM party chairman John Mbadi, the mandate to vet the candidate only lies with the party election team.
The party nominations are set to be held on September 10 this year.
The party chairman further argued that the election team will work independently and not even the national executive council has the mandate whatsoever to control the election body
ODM Nominations exercise in the past has been marred by disruptions the famous case being the men in black in Kasarani last year.
The situation is, however, set to change following the unveiling of the new team that will be free from being controlled by the party executive.
