Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Fred Ouda has given Kisumu based police officers a clean bill of health over what many have termed as excessive use of force by the law enforcers leading to incidences of loss of life.
Mr Ouda in an interview on KTN News on Tuesday morning ruled out police officers from killing and harassment of protesting NASA supporters in Kisumu saying that involved individuals are not police officers.
According to Mr Ouda, there were criminal gangs who he termed as 'The Nairobi Business community' deployed in police uniforms and that had been armed to execute inhumane acts on their supporters.
"I know nearly all police officers in Kisumu from Kondele, Nyalenda and all areas. They can not do some of the things we are seeing and if you ask me, thoss are the Nairobi Business community in police uniforms," said Mr Ouda.
The MP said he felt he sorry for what his constituents had been subjected to while in peaceful demonstrations but added that they would not abandon thier demands.
Mr Ouda's remarks come at a time when there are allegations of an individual with dreadlocks dressed in police uniforms having shot and killed a form four student in Kisumu on Monday.
