The much awaited ODM primaries in Kisumu county will not be held Monday April 24, as it was earlier planned.
This is after the party’s National Elections Board called off the nominations, Sunday night, and rescheduled the exercise to Tuesday, April 25.
In a statement, the ODM NEB chairperson Judith Pareno, alluded to security challenges that led to the cancellation of the Monday primaries.
“The National Elections Board has assessed the security situation in Kisumu and observed that the planned primaries scheduled for tomorrow Monday 24th April in the County cannot proceed as scheduled,” read part of the statement.
“Therefore, the Board has decided to postpone the exercise to Tuesday 25th April 2017 depending on the improvement of security situation,” Pareno added, Sunday
Pareno further noted that the exercise will continue in the other planned counties in the Nyanza region.
“The exercise in the rest of the Counties i.e. Homabay, Siaya and Migori will go on tomorrow as scheduled,” she added.
