The ODM party postponed a major event to officially welcome Kenya’s ambassador to Tanzania Chirau Ali Mwakwere, to the party, following the demise of Kwale senator Boy Juma Boy.
Chirau who vied for the County's senatorial seat on a United Republican Party (URP) (which merged into Jubilee party), and lost to ODM’s Boy Juma Boy, was later appointed to the ambassadorial post as a reward for his loyalty to Jubilee.
Following Kwale governor Salim Mvurya's defection from ODM to Jubilee, Mwakere (who calls himself 'Zipapa') saw a direct path and resigned from Jubilee, to join ODM, so as to battle Mvurya out of office, in August 8, general election.
Former Kinango MP Simeon Mkalla is expected to be Mwakwere’s running-mate for the seat.
ODM was to receive him, Saturday, but postponed to a later date, in honour of the late area senator, Juma Boy.
He died after short illness.
