The Orange Democratic Movement party will face its first major litmus test as party primaries kicks off in three major counties across the country.

On Wednesday, Elections Board chair Judy Pareno warned against violence adding that the party will ensure free, fair and credible polls are held to the satisfaction of contestants.

“I wish to invite all party members in the counties scheduled for nominations to participate fully. We shall adhere to the law,” she said in the final day of preparation.

Busia, Bungoma and Machakos counties will be first on test as officials maintained that they will not condone any acts of violence.

“The party’s penal code is clear and we will not hesitate to take actions against errant members and contestants,” added Pareno.

And the mother of competitions is expected in Busia County where incumbent Governor Sospeter Ojaamong will be facing Funyula MP Paul Otuoma.

Both candidates are close allies of ODM leader Raila Odinga with Ojaamong having served as Odinga’s aide before and Otuoma appointed Minister during the grand coalition government.a
