The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has slammed president Uhuru Kenyatta for 'declining' to receive bodies of the slain Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers.
According to ODM, Uhuru was in Mombasa to receive area Deputy governor Hazel Katana after she defected from ODM to Jubilee, instead of receiving, with respect, remains of soldiers who died in Kulbiyoiw, Somalia.
''Very shameful for the president to go Mombasa to receive a deputy governor for joining Jubilee and not receiving bodies of our fallen KDF soldiers from Somalia,'' said ODM, in an update.
The soldiers were brought into the country following an attack at their base, January 27, by Al-Shabaab terrorists, a year after a similar attack in El-Adde.
The militants claim 67 KDF soldiers were killed in the recent attack, but the Military spokesperson Col Paul Njuguna said only 16 soldiers lost their lives.
Uhuru was flanked by Nairobi Women MP Rachel Shebesh, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro, area gubernatorial hopeful Suleiman Shahbal, among other Jubilee leaders, Wednesday.
