Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has told NASA presidential nominee Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka to keep off Kwale.
Mvurya claimed that the two opposition heavyweights have hidden interests in the niobium deposits at Mrima hills, Kwale County.Speaking at Tiwi area, the county chief slammed Raila and Kalonzo claiming that the opposition is interested in the county because of its rich mineral resources.While backing Mvurya's allegations, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala slammed the NASA leadership saying they should be the last ones to speak on corruption since the mining deal between Base Titanium and the government was signed under their watch.The heavy mineral deposits in Kwale County may be the latest flashpoint to reignite the supremacy contest between Jubilee and the opposition.In January, Mvurya who decamped from ODM to join Jubilee accused Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho of having an interest in the county's mineral resources; something he claims led to the bitter fallout between them.And in late March, while on a charm offensive of the region, NASA principal’s Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula asked residents to be wary of Deputy President’s William Ruto's frequent visits to the region, arguing they are questionable.
