[Photo/Standard]The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) director of communication Philip Etale has laughed off a decision by Nairobi County government to close Uhuru Park grounds. The announcement was made through a public notice published on local dailies on January 23, 2018 and signed by Nairobi County Secretary Leboo Ole Morintat.“Notice is hereby given to the general public that Uhuru Park Grounds is scheduled to undergo phased improvement works in order to enhance recreational usefulness to its visitors. We apologise for any inconveniences caused,” read the public notice. The grounds were expected to host the swearing-in of Opposition leader Raila Odinga as the people's president on January 30, 2018.However through a tweet on Wednesday, Etale noted that Uhuru park was just one of the option of the swearing-in venue. He added that the government was in a panic mode. "Was Uhuru's inauguration held at Uhuru Park ? Hehe. Panick mode. Uhuru Park as a I said was just number 5 option. Lol," wrote the ODM official.
